Video: Seth MacFarlane's Oscars opening gets help from William Shatner

Seth MacFarlane had big shoes to fill to be the host of the 85th Annual Academy Awards. The Oscars always have a host (or sometimes two) and what happens on stage always finds a way to the front of the tabloid. While MacFarlane knows how to milk a joke for a laugh, don’t be surprised if the fans applaud the man for his comedic fun.

In what was unexpected for the opening of the show, William Shatner arrived on a teleprompter above the big Dolby theater to give some much needed advice to Seth MacFarlane to avoid getting bad reviews. Sharing several short segments, the show got started with a little singing, dancing and even pocking a little fun at the stars.

Opening up the show for the world to watch, the opening number definitely got the attention of the masses. From the toe tapping to the lyrical rapping, it appeared Seth MacFarlane really captured the hearts of the fans.
