Tonight the Tea Party unveiled their keynote speaker in former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Palin spoke before the convention for about forty minutes and received $100,000 for the speech. For those mathematically challenged like myself that is an average of $2,500 per minute.
Earlier the convention hosted former Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo who stated President Obama was only elected because the United States no longer requires a civics or literacy test before voting. The Tea Party stood by Tancredo's comments but Sarah Palin did not address the issue.
Instead Palin spent much of the speech attacking President Obama. Palin blamed the President for allegedly "allowing" the underwear bomber to board a plane bound for America. She accused the President of being soft and terror and mocked him at one point by asking "How's that hopey-changey thing workin out for ya?"
Palin also praised the Tea Party as being symbolic of a new conservative movement in America. Palin stuck with her commitment to speak at the convention despite hesitancy from other conservatives. Representatives Michelle Backmann (R-MN) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) both abandoning speaking commitments at the convention citing concerns over how the funds from the convention would be used. The Tea Party was charging $550 per-person to attend the event. Palin claimed that her $100,000 speaking fee would be used for "the cause" without explaining specifically what that meant. Previously Sarah Palin political action committee spent $63,000 to buy copies of Palin's autobiography.

This speech was a tour de force; Sarah Palin represents the best of who we are, as Americans. As she said in her speech, it's time to be proud of our country, and to quit with the Obama-style apologies. America has done more to advance the human condition than any country that God ever gave to man.
Nothing more than slogans and lies. Claiming the underpants bomber wasn't asked pertinent questions when the reports are he is giving up everything asked is but one lie. All the rest of the nonsense, lie after lie.
How sad there are fools that believe this nonsense.

Would you also state in the second sentence of an article about former President Bill Clinton that he received a fee of $100,000, or whatever the speaking fee was? I think not. Clinton has earned millions in his 9 years out of office in speaking fees. Are you suggesting that accepting speaking fees is wrong somehow? Or is it just that you are trying to smear Gov. Palin with your snarky comments? You are a sad excuse for journalism.
By the way, Bachmann and Blackburn bailed out of their speaking engagements to avoid any possible ethics conflicts as could be brought by the House Ethics Committee.

My source for the Bachmann and Blackburn info was Fox News. So is Fox News lying about their reason for ditching the convention? Do you have any sources to support your point of view.

Well, how is the "hopey-changey" thing working out? In December, the President signed papers to raise the national debt by 400 billion. This month the Senate, at his direction, raised the national debt limit another 2 trillion, to what, 14.9 trillion or so, but who's counting?
Who did let the Christmas day bomber come here from Yemen? Obama is the chief executive officer of the U.S. and agencies answering directly to him, not to Congress or the Courts, let the bomber on, and said "the system worked."

The age of a newly elected representative riding off into the sunrise to never be heard from but at their leisure, should be long gone. However, in this contemporary age of technology, we still hear from our representation when they deem necessary or advantageous. Interaction with constituents should be one of the most significant portions of any representative’s job and should occur during the entire length of their duty. Is not the elective official granted the privilege of being the voice of the people, for the people with the State’s best interest and the best interest of the citizenry? I am deeply saddened that we, the people, have accepted communication at our representative’s convenience and their leisure, and usually around campaign times.
