Sarah Palin was the keynote speaker at the Tea Party convention Saturday. The Tea Party ended their three-day convention Saturday at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville. Tickets for the convention were $549, or $349 if the ticket holder only wanted to see Sarah Palin speak.

There have been unconfirmed reports that Palin was paid $100,000 for her appearance at the convention, and that she planned to donate that money to a charity.

Palin opened her speech with: "Happy Birthday, Ronald Reagan!"

After making a joke about the teleprompters, Palin proceeded to read her speech word for word (she looks down frequently).  There have also been reports that she was reading from her hand with crib notes (see her left hand in the photo).

There are several lines from her speech that have been heavily discussed the morning after her speech.
“We need a commander-in-chief, not a professor of law standing at a lectern.”

Palin spoke highly of Tea Party activists and said:
“You don't need an office or a title to make a difference.”

Sarah Palin also joked about President Obama’s campaign words of hope and change, and said, “How’s that hopey, changy thing working out for you?”

Sarah Palin appeared in Salt Lake City, Utah in December for a book signing to promote her book, Going Rogue: An American Life.  See Palin’s full speech from the Tea Party convention below.
