Video: Sarah Palin reveals her support for 'profiling' in interview with Sean Hannity

Sarah Palin has accused people like Katie Couric and reporters at the Associated Press of being out to get her but in Sean Hannity Palin knows she has friend.  In her interview with Hannity tonight Palin was able to give out her talking points without facing the kind of tough follow-up questions or factchecking that others have handed out.  The biggest soundbite coming out of the Hannity interviews is Palin's purported support for "profiling."

When asked about the recent shootings at Fort Hood Palin states that she believes the attack was certainly a terrorist attack and that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan should have been "profiled."  Palin goes on to predict that the liberal press will "clobber her" for the comment.  Indeed in Palin is partially correct as Media Matters has already posted a clip of the exchange which can be seen below.

However this blogger hesistates to attack Palin for the comment as she really never defined what she meant by "profiling" in this case.  For example Palin was careful not to use the phrase "racial profiling" or "religous profiling."  If by "profling" Palin means that Hasan should have been investigated more than he was before the shootings than most liberals would actually agree with her.  If on the other hand Palin is calling for the kind of "special screenings" of all Muslim soldiers that has been suggested by those at Fox News then she is correct in saying liberals oppose such suggestions.  So at this point it is hard to really condemn Palin for the comment as she left herself a lot of room to explain away the quote with her phrasing.

    Ryan,

Your article was actually fair, but the title was deceptive because it gave a false impression.

So you appeared to be fair only if you read the whole article.

If someone didn't read the entire article they would just think she was 'guilty of the greater charge'. It's a win, win for you, huh?

Gigi: I fail to see how the title is deceptive. The title said that Palin support profiling. The video clip has Palin explicitly saying she supports profiling. I do not call that deceptive I call that reporting what Palin said. I would also say that if you really want every title to reflect the entire substance of an article you are asking too much. That is why the title is the title and the article is the article. The article further explains the title. That is like me condemning Palin's book "Going Rogue" because "Going Rogue" does not accurately reflect every statement in the book.

    Nice article.

Profiling is not a necessary evil but rather just a needed process of our law enforcement agencies. No matter how you slice or dice, it will lead to a specific "race" (I hate to use that term. We are one race.) religion, there are many and even the typical sexual orientation, even down to straight or homosexual. This saves time, which in the Ft. Hood case could have saved lives. It saves money, something The big "O" team thinks we have a never ending source of. It saves our resources for better fighting those who would harm you and me for not agreeing with their views.

    Ryan nicely stated.

Gig, no offence meant or implied, but watch the video if you have not. Her statements more than likely reflect the vast majority of Americans, all America's include if they understand what profiling is. We need it and we should understand that if your child were kidnapped by a Caucasian male you would want the FBI to profile "Caucasian males, not Asians, Africans, Indians or Arabic decent. Profiling is like prejudice to an extent, we prejudge most things in life, and we need to prejudge those who might cause harm when they show certain lifestyles, practices, or routines. Please do not confuse prejudice with racism; these are two totally different words.

Ryan, it's people like you that enjoy 'stirring the pot'....She said profiling, which I think everyone would agree upon, even the mentally challanged liberals, BUT, YOU added " if she had said racial profiling"...well, SHE DIDN"T! Palin is smart enough not to open the doors for that ! but Apparently, YOU AREN"T !!!

Isn't it wonderful that our country seems to care more about being PC than protecting innocent people?
