If the Manti Te’o girlfriend hoax wasn't weird enough for fans, then Dr. Phil is going to be the man to watch this week. On the Today show Wednesday the good doctor shared some of his interview with Ronaiah Tuiasosopo (the man who is alleged to be the voice that Te’o fell in love with) and he claims the man became romantically involved as pulled off the hoax.
“Here we have a young man that fell deeply, romantically in love,’’ said Phil McGraw to NBC’s Mike Taibbi on TODAY. “I asked him straight up, ‘Was this a romantic relationship with you?’ And he says yes. I said, ‘Are you then therefore gay?’ And he said, ‘When you put it that way, yes.’ And then he caught himself and said, ‘I am confused.’’’
Who here is really confused? America! Nobody needs Dr. Phil to reflect on a plot that is so thick that the main characters are overshadowed by the celebrities interviewing them. There is a reason a play has a limited number of characters and most producers enjoy only three acts. Even novels don’t have so many elements that people scratch their head and wonder who that man is again.
Frankly, this situation is becoming so confusing that it’s impossible to keep track. Add to this the overwhelming star power that is dishing on the interviews of the interviews (Dr. Phil and Katie Couric) and everyone is just wishing Charlie Sheen would act out again as a good shot of tiger blood is definitely needed.
