Standing on the platform, the poet was part of the ceremony and shared his words of encouragement with the citizens of the country. As the public ceremony had many elements, but it was the words of Richard Blanco touched many who are looking to see the country come together.
The inaugural poet was the youngest poet to address the crowd during a presidential inauguration and also was the first Hispanic poet to hold the position. In the spirit of community, the poet seemed to remember all walks of life and gave people a vivid image of America. While the different elements of the poem covered the five senses of human nature, it also gave an impression of how Americans live and survive in such a vast land.
