Season 13 of the TV show 'American Idol' is in full swing. The top 8 performed the songs they sang on their original auditions for the competition on a recent performances show. Sam Woolf received the fewest votes this week and was subjected to elimination on the results show.

Woolf performed for the save and the judges decided to use their only save for the season. Woolf continues in the competition.

The LA Music Examiner and TV Examiner spoke with former judge and current mentor Randy Jackson backstage after the show. Click on the video link to see what he had to say about the judges using their one save for the season for Sam. Please excuse a few technical issues during the video.
