The setting, timing, and circumstances of tonight's speech by President Obama set up as the perfect political drama for us all to watch on prime time television.  As USA Today reports Presidential addresses to a joint session of Congress are actually quite rare occurring only 47 times in our nation's history.  The speech comes at a time when health care is in critical condition and doomed to failure without some kind of "change."

The President has some tremendously tough obstacles to overcome in the speech if health care reform is to succeed.  Here is a list of what must be accomplished in what is anticipated to be approximately an hour long speech before Congress:

(1) Heal the blind by convincing the American public that they will not lose their current insurance through reform despite conservative sources telling them exactly the opposite.

(2)  Speak in tongues to persuade liberals that he can be trusted to pass "real reform" even if that reform does not include a strong public option.

(3)  Effectively walk on water by making the case to Americans that he can cover over 40 million uninsured Americans while still not increasing the federal debt.

(4)  Cast out political demons of extremism by refuting conservative myths believed by millions that reform will force seniors to death panels and allow government to access their bank accounts.

(5)  Create the trinity of health care reform by solving the political paradox of the public option by influences moderate Democrats to vote reform while simultaneously assuaging liberal Democrats who want stronger reform.

Good luck Mr. President.  May God be with you because I believe you will need to accomplish those miracles.
