For Tony Stewart, last year’s visit to Pocono Raceway was one he won’t soon forget; in his first season as driver-owner, Stewart was looking to make a statement and score his first points paying race win and help validate the move.
Thanks to a call for the right fuel strategy, Stewart was able to make that statement in the 2009 Pocono 500 and will return this weekend as the defending race winner.
According to Stewart, the key to running well at Pocono is recognizing that the diversity of the track.
"All three corners are different - that's the most challenging part,” Stewart said. “It seems like you can always get your car good in two of the three corners, but the guys who are contending for the win are the guys who can get their car good for all three corners, which is very hard to do.”
