Thursday, KCRA Sacramento News received its third hand written letter from Phillip Garrido and in it he apologizes to “every human being for what has taken place.”  It isn't quite clear exactly who the apology is directed toward.

"First off I want to apologize to every human being for what has taken place," the letter states. KCRA is not releasing the entire letter because their attorneys have suggested they don’t at this time.

The letter goes on to states that Garrido believes he has been cured of his sexual deviancy due to a religious transformation. It reads: "People all over the world are hearing testimony that through the spirit of Christ a mental process took place ending a sexual problem believed to be impossible."

The KCRA station states that there are other issues addressed in the letter, but that they cannot release more details at this time.

The second letter Garrido wrote begged any attorney to help Jaycee Dugard and stated that her rights are being violated and she needed an attorney present when speaking to authorities. He believed that she was being denied an attorney. Jaycee Dugard and her two daughters have an attorney.

Nancy and Phillip Garrido have been arrested and charged with kidnapping and holding Jaycee Dugard captive for 18 years. Dugard walked into a police station in late August and told them her real name. For more on the original story of what happened to Jaycee Dugard, click here.

The Jaycee Dugard kidnapping is similar to the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping in that both were held hostage for an extended period of time and found alive. Elizabeth Smart testified against her kidnapper Brian David Mitchell on October 1, 2009. Smart testified that she was raped 3 or 4 times a day, and tied to a pole by Mitchell and his wife. I am glad to hear Garrido realizing that what he did was wrong. he should be punished for his actions and probably be put away for a very long time, possibly for good (life imprisonment) if he's convicted. i suppose it'll be best if he is put behind bars for the rest of his life, even if he is willing to admit his crime(s). his lady accomplice, or wife, should also face life imprisonment, if convicted. but who knows? that's something I hope to expect because they put an innocent girl's (now a young woman) life in greater danger and held her captive for so many years. that's why they should face stiffer prison sentences or most likely the stiffest.

I retired from the Ca Dept Of Correction after twenty-five years as a case worker. It was amazing to me how this tramp could have
fooled so many "professionals" in and out of prison. If it had not been for gullible, lazy, and incompetent people this fungus would never been able to commit this crime and who knows how many others. His fifty year sentence was most fitting, and should have been served to the day. After interviewing hundreds of these kind of criminals I can assure you they are very manipulative and cunning, and entirely beyond rehabilitation. He is and always will be a threat to the community.
