Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican Senator and devout Mormon wrote a Hannukah song to celebrate the holiday. The song can be heard in the video below. CNN’s HLN reported the story early Sunday morning.
Orrin Hatch, 75 said that he’s felt close to the Jewish people and wanted to do something for them, and when a Jewish friend suggested he write a Hannukah song, he jumped on the chance to do it. Hatch said he would love Madonna or Barbara Streisand to sing it.
Hatch teamed with New York composer Madeline Stone. Hatch wrote the lyrics to “Eight Days of Hannukah,” and they created a hip-hop melody beat for the song.
“I feel sorry I’m not Jewish sometimes,” said Hatch, and he proudly wears the mezuzah around his neck in the video below. Singer Rasheeda Azar sings the catchy little tune, and Hatch appears in the video.
