The Howard Stern Show's latest vacation kicked off Thursday, and many conspiracy theorists thought it was only a matter of time before a high profile celebrity death hit the media airwaves as a result of the of the infamous 'Howard Stern Show Vacation Death Curse'.  The Curse, an urban legend started on Howard Stern Show bulletin boards, fan sites and blogs, asserts that celebrity deaths kick in to high gear whenever the Howard Stern Show goes on vacation.  Celebrities who have died during Howard Stern Show vacation periods include Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Senator Ted Kennedy and Brittany Murphy.

About 24 hours after Howard Stern signed off for the week at Sirius XM studios on Thursday, Georgian Olympic luge competitor Nodar Kumaritashvili flew off the track during a training run at the 2010 Winter Olympics track in Vancouver and was killed instantly--on camera.

Under most circumstances, a competitor from an obscure country competing in an obscure sport wouldn't be considered famous enough to be considered a Howard Stern Show Vacation Death Curse victim, but the circumstances of Nodar Kumaritashvili's death and the fact that the accident was caught on camera at the most high profile sporting event in the world means that the luger might qualify.  The real test of whether or not a celebrity qulaifies as a potential Howard Stern Show Vacation Death Curse casualty is whether or not Howard Stern Show fans are truly pissed off that they won't get to hear the King of All Media's analysis of the event.

Now, Howard Stern Show fans are left to their own devices to speculate on what Stern might have to say about the 'mentality' of an individual who participates in such a 'harrible' sport.
