The Today Show aired a heart-warming story of Nubs a dog that Major Brian Dennis found in Iraq in October of 2007. In January of 2008, Dennis left Nubs behind to move to another location in Iraq that was 70-75 miles away. Nubs showed up a few days later and found Dennis at his new camp.
It is against military rules to have dogs, and Dennis was told to get rid of the dog. So Dennis wanted to ship Nubs to the United States, but the cost was $5,000. So Dennis sent out an email to friends who passed the email along to others, and donations came in from people around the world.
Dennis has written a book about his story called Nubs, the True Story of a Mutt, a Marine and a Miracle.
In Utah, ABC 4 hosts a webpage for lost and found dogs, and dogs who just need a home. The website is complete with photos and information of what people are looking for.
