Footage from a severe storm that spawned a funnel cloud which turned into a tornado over the southern part of Nassau on New Providence island Bahamas. The tornado caused minor damage to trees and buildings while knocking down power lines.
Tornadoes in this part of the world are actually quite common this time of year. The landspouts or waterspouts in the Bahamas, Grand Caymans and other islands in the western Atlantic occur on somewhat of a daily basis due to land/water interactions this time of year according to National Weather Service Meteorologist Evan Bookbinder.
