In the most anticipated fight of the year, Miguel Cotto vs Manny Pacquiaco faced off in an all out battle for the title. Here is the round-by-round results in tonight's Miguel Cotto vs Manny Pacquaio fight:
In the first found, Cotto landed three great chin blows, and two uppercuts. Pacquiao landed one good left jab, but Cotto showed that he was ready to fight. Cotto was ducking and slipping away, and Pac looked concerned. Round one went to Miguel Cotto.
In the second round, Pac looks weak in the head and Cotto keeps countering with his right. Pac started to show some speed and agility and it was pretty intense for a few minutes. Cotto’s trainers told him “to stop pulling back and get in there.”
Round three begins with the crowd cheering “Manny, Manny, Manny.” Pac hit Cotto hard and knocked down Cotto to his right knee. Cotto hit three body shots in a row, and Pac went in for a head butt and was stopped by the ref. Cotto ended round three with a great upper cut to Pac; and Cotto was still going strong.
Round four and five, Cotto was showing a lot of tightened defense, Pac was up against the ropes, and Cotto gave him some major blows. Pac knocked down Cotto at the beginning of the fourth with a harsh left; Cotto was bleeding in the mouth and looked pretty bad, and seemed to be dizzy. At one point, it looked as though the fight might be stopped, but it continued. Pac was quick, but Cotto pinned him against the ropes. Pac almost slipped at one point, but quickly regained his posture.
Going into round six, Pac’s trainer said, “Don’t let him lead.” Cotto is trying to stay afloat, and Pac is landing good blows. Cotto shows some strength as if to say he is still in this, and Pac grins as he walks back at the end of the sixth.
In round seven, Cotto shows weakness and his right upper cheek and eyes are bleeding badly. The crowd is animated. The announcer mentions that this is the first fight that Pac’s father has attended, and that his father abandoned the family when he was young.
Round eight, Cotto is moving around, landing good blows, and avoiding hits to the right cheek. Pac gets Cotto against the ropes twice.
Round nine and ten, Cotto tells his trainers that he is okay, and he continues to fight back even though his face looks terrible. Pac gets Cotto against the ring, trying to hold on and counter. The announcer calls Pac a “Human Typhoon.” Cotto’s trainer tells him that he has one more round to show up and react. Melissa, Cotto’s wife leaves with his son to avoid seeing his father in all that pain. Cotto fights back, uses fancy footwork. Pac looks bruised, but not battered and he is not bleeding. The moment that Cotto stops moving, he looks as though he will be in trouble.
Round eleven, Cotto is showing that he is a good fighter, keeping some distance and trying not to get pinned against the ropes, but he bleeds from the nose and mouth. Cotto is moving, and Pac takes a breather knowing that Cotto is tired. There hasn’t been any trash talking in this fight, it is clear that these two boxers respect each other. Crowd cheers, “Manny, Manny, Manny.”
In round twelve, the referee stopped the fight with 55 seconds left in the round because Cotto was hurt pretty badly.
Manny Pacquiao won 7 titles in 7 divisions and tied Oscar de la Hoya’s record. Pacquiao is the welter weight and WBC diamond belt champion.

In an ESPN forum on Friday, Tyler C. from Salt Lake City, Utah asked Pacquiao, "Manny, how are you going to account for Cotto's strong left hook?"
Pacquiao responded, "We've beeing training the gym to overcome and counteract his strength. I think I am the faster and quicker fighter so it all depends on who lands it right. We have a good game plan to overcome Cotto."
