Meghan McCain continues to do more interviews, and each interview reveals a new, interesting detail about the failed 2008 presidential campaign of Senator John McCain (R-AZ). The daughter of Sen. McCain is doing multiple interviews to promote her book "Dirty Sexy Politics" which details her life during the 2008 campaign. Earlier this week Meghan McCain revealed that she cried when she learned that her dad picked Sarah Palin as his running mate. Last night McCain took a separate verbal jab at Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol.
In the interview, Stewart first extends an invitation to Senator McCain to come back on his show. Before he became the Republican nominee Sen. McCain was a frequent guest on The Daily Show. As a moderate Republican, Stewart and Sen. McCain were able to discuss many issues in a pragmatic way. However, after he won the nomination Sen. McCain took a turn to the political right, and came under increasing criticism from Stewart. Since that time the two have evidently not been on speaking terms.
The most interesting detail of the interview came toward the end when Meghan McCain seemingly took a verbal jab at Bristol Palin. McCain describes how she was forced to see an image consultant, and told that she looked bad for the campaign. Eventually Meghan McCain would be told to stay away from the campaign because of concerns over her viewpoint and appearance. At this point in the interview, Meghan McCain notes the irony of being told that she "looked bad" for the campaign while a "pregnant teen" was with her. The "pregnant teen" phrase was a clear reference to Bristol Palin, whose out-of-wedlock pregnancy became an issue in the middle of the 2008 campaign.
It will be interesting to see if Sarah Palin responds in anyway to Meghan McCain's comments. In the past Sarah Palin has defended her daughter strongly against any criticism. Most notably, when David Letterman made a joke about her daughter getting "knocked up" at a Yankees game, Palin slammed Letterman and he later apologized.

would anyone be surprised if Meghan switches to Democrat after John passes away?
It seems that she is really a Democrat, but stays Republican in honor of her father.
I think it will be interesting to see how politics will radically change when people of Meghan McCain's generation take over running things. The social issues that have been the great divide between the parties will become largely irrelevant in perception (I've always thought they were simply distractions used for Republican control). In 2010, she does sound more like a Democrat than a Republican so her changing parties wouldn't surprise me. She is a fish out of water right now - The proof of that is I think I actually like her - lg
