Jacki and Gilbert are Mega Millions Newest Winners

At first, Jacki and Gilbert wanted to keep their winning Mega Millions jackpot a secret. According to Associated Press, Jacki said "My hand was shaking the phone, I went to hang up the phone and I was shaking, and my legs felt like they were going to buckle," said Cisneros, who had remained anonymous for much of the day but led her station's 11 p.m. newscast with an interview. "I just cried, and laughed."

Do Lottery Winners Really Keep Their Day Jobs?

Although Jacki kept her good news a secret, she did call her boss to let him in on the good news and to tell him she would be coming to work anyway. It's not clear whether or not Jacki will keep her job, but for now she says she loves her job and needs the routine, and that she'll come to work again today.

The Cisneros seem like really nice people.. just saw them on the news, however as I doubt they will be able to enjoy their money for long since I heard them talking about the places they choose to eat.. McDonalds, KFC, Olvera St. Mr. Cisneros looks like he is ready for a heart attack at any minute. Maybe they can hire a chef and personal trainer now that they are rich. I do wish them the best.

Ninja1230...ROFL, but so true. First investment should be a top of the line home gym, a chef and the biggest loser coaches as their trainers. Damn Ninja1230, you're gonna get me fired...I'm laughing so hard

What does this have to do with Providence?

  • Donna Diegel 2 years ago

    Dear Reader,

As you know from the article, Rhode Island sells Mega Millions tickets, and Powerball tickets. Thousands of Rhode Islanders play the lottery games and buy these tickets at their neighborhood convenience stores, local supermarkets, gas stations, liquor stores, etc, each and every week. When the jackpot grows this high, everyone gets pumped up and might buy an extra one for good luck. These R.I. ticket holders wait patiently with ticket in hand for the next drawing, hoping they're the lucky winner. The night of the drawing, excited R.I. ticket holders are glued to their TV. When someone wins a jackpot this big, everyone wants to see who it is. So yes, this story is relevant to Rhode Island, for those very reasons and so many more.

    Thanks for reading!
