Lupe Fiasco and Guy Sebastian closed out the Grammy Foundation's Play It Forward: A Celebration Of Music event performing an amazing live rendition of their hit song "Battle Scars".
The song "Battle Scars" was released digitally in Australia and New Zealand last year on Sony Music Entertainment. The song is written by Sebastian, Fiasco and David Ryan Harris. The song is on Sebastian's album "Armageddon" and on Fiasco's album "Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1."
The song "Battle Scars" debuted at number one on the ARIA Singles Chart in its first week of release. The song has since been certified 8× platinum in Australia and double platinum in New Zealand.
Fiasco's album "Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt.1" is nominated for Best Rap Album in the 55th Annual Grammys. The awards air on February 10th at CBS.
"Play It Forward: A Celebration Of Music's Evolution And Influencers" — the 15th Annual GRAMMY Foundation Music Preservation Project — featuring live musical performances and archival footage from its preservation archives. The event took place on Thursday, February 7th at 7:30 PM at the Sabian Theatre in Beverly Hills.
Another performers included Mike Einziger, LeAnn Rimes, Ann Marie Simpson, George Thorogood and The Destroyers, Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris; Ed Sheeran, Lianne La Havas, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Dionne Warwick, and Yolanda Adam . The evening's musical director wasDarrell Brown.
"Play It Forward: A Celebration Of Music's Evolution And Influencers" explored the history of legendary influencers in music and the invaluable contributions of those key players, the music they inspired and their impact on the American cultural landscape. The Grammy Week celebration promotes the Grammy Foundation's mission of recognizing and preserving our musical past, so that future generations can continue to benefit from an appreciation and understanding of those contributions.
