Video: Liz Wahl, Russia Today TV anchor quits on air

A U.S. anchor from Russia quit on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, when she was live on-air, as she blamed the network for whitewashing the actions of Putin, reports the BBC.

Liz Wahl quits on air

Apparently, she had disagreed to the coverage of military intervention in Ukraine. Liz Wahl was the producer for Russian state television network and resigned on her antipathy for Moscow's actions.

On Wednesday, Wahl ended her 5:00 p.m. broadcast with the news of her resignation, stating that she cannot be a part of the network that ‘whitewashes the actions’ of Putin.

She also added that she’s proud to be an American and propagating the truth. She ended the show saying that after the newscast, she is resigning officially.

Later in the day, the anchor also told Daily Beast that she regrets having worked with the network, though claiming that she knew what she was getting into, but stayed objective to the most.

Her statements also include claims where she said the network's management is responsible for manipulating the employees.

She also appeared on the Piers Morgan Live show, where she told about her happiness of living in America, and how she had been contemplating to quit for a long time.

Wahl is not the only one to talk of the issue, but just a day before Abby Martin, anchor for Russia Today, openly talked about Moscow's intervention on the coverage on Ukraine issues.

On being asked on the show, Wahl said that she cannot comment on Martin’ stand, but praised the anchor for her open statements.
