You know a story has started to gain some real momentum when it makes it on Jon Stewart's Daily Show. Political junkies can be easily excited by every minor story but Daily Show coverage is one signal of a story being mainstreamed into the mind of every American. After the death of Walter Cronkite one poll said Stewart was the new "most trusted man in news" even though he blatantly hosts a show meant to humor along with the news.
The above is one reason Glenn Beck might be worried over the growing story of his conflict of interest over gold. In what some are calling "Gold-gate" Beck has been taking money from gold companies while simultaneously promoting gold on his television show. Beck's sponsorship (along with his personal holdings in gold) are obvious on his radio show but hardly ever (if ever) disclosed on his television show. As Stewart illustrates below this has led some to question whether he is serving companies like Goldline instead of his viewers when he speaks of an impending economic disaster and the need to buy gold.
