After Sarah Palin used crib notes on her hand during a Tea Party speech on knew that it somehow would show up on Jon Stewart's Daily Show. Last night Stewart did not disappoint by devoting a significant segment to the Tea Party as a whole and Sarah Palin's speech particularly.
Stewart first shows a clip of Tom Tancredo's speech at the Tea Party convention in which he claimed Barack Obama was elected by ignorant people who could not even spell "vote." Tancredo ended up advocating a return to the literacy test requirement even though the test has a racially discriminatory past. Even if Tancredo's claim about Obama voters were true Stewart illustrates the mental deficiencies of Tea Party voters as well. One Tea Party sign urged voter to say no to the "Pubic Option" in health care reform while another urged Americans to support the "consitution."
However Stewart saved his harshest criticism for Sarah Palin's keynote speech. Stewart claims that Palin is walking contradiction in that she criticizes President Obama for "lecturing" Americans while she simultaneously gives a speech from a lectern about what it means to be a real America. In addition Palin criticized the President for his use of a teleprompter while she consulted her own hand to answer pre-screened questions after he speech.
