Jodie Foster has been in the business since she was three. The actress definitely seemed to be the perfect person for the Golden Globe Awards to honor on Sunday night. Receiving the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, Foster’s acceptance speech definitely had people speculating that the actress was retiring and more.
Typically a star says a few nice things, thanks a few people and moves on. However Jodie Foster appeared to give her heartfelt speech in such a way that gave people an impression her lack of privacy over the years has really upset the actress. Adding to the speculation was her words surrounding being on stage again.
“I will continue to tell stories, to move people by being moved, the greatest job in the world," said Jodie Foster on stage. "It’s just that from now on, I may be holding a different talking stick. And maybe it won’t be as sparkly, maybe it won’t open on 3,000 screens, maybe it will be so quiet and delicate that only dogs can hear it whistle. But it will be my writing on the wall."
While the star wouldn't confirm if she was retiring backstage, she did seem moved by all the media attention given to her career. Honored by her peers and the fans, perhaps the last thing Foster wanted to do was give anyone a reason to wonder about her future if she is looking to be a private person, but her speech had many people wondering.
