Micky Dolenz plays at Epcot through Sunday, March 10, in the Flower Power concert series at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, and I had a chance to chat with him before his Saturday set. Click the video toward the bottom of this article to hear what he feels like returning the park for the second year in a row and his personal invitation for fans to come out and see him. You'll also see a flock of "animatronic" ducks crash our chat!
Dolenz played at last year's Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival to cover for fellow Monkee Davy Jones after Jones's unexpected and tragic death. This year he returns to keep the tradition of a Monkee playing at the Flower Power concerts alive and to delight the band's fans who come out every year to hear their favorite Monkees tunes.
Dolenz will play three sets on Sunday, at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8 p.m. in the America Gardens Theater, across from the American Adventure pavilion. Seating is first come, first served, so line up early to make sure you get into the show at your preferred time. If you catch a later show, you get the added treat of seeing the lighted topiaries and gardens after dark.
If you miss the Micky Dolenz concerts, don't despair. There's still a great Flower Power line-up running every weekend of the festival at Walt Disney World, with some new faces for 2013, like singer-song writer Tommy Roe, who appears May 3 to 5, and the Village People, who take the stage April 19 to 21.
