Many of television’s most popular daytime actors came out to support the crew behind the camera at the 2014 Creative Emmy Awards. The awards ceremony, held on last weekend at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, recognizes the crew who work on the shows on all areas, including editing, hairstyling, and costume design as well as art direction.
The night saw multiple Emmy wins for children’s series “Sesame Street,” “Peg and Cat” and the Daytime dramas “All My Children,” “One Life to Live” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” On Sunday, “Days of our Lives” was well represented at the live Emmy ceremony with a total of 3 awards including Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series for Eileen Davidson and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Eric Martsolf.
Two actors who came out the support the Creative Awards were “Day of our Lives” actors, Freddie Smith and Guy Wilson. As super couple, Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis, the actors has created many memorable moments on screen, including their wedding, which made history as the first marriage between two men on a Daytime Drama. “WilSon,” has gone through their share of drama on screen. This year alone saw Gabi (the mother of Will’s child Ari) heading off to prison for killing Nick. With the casting change, (Wilson replaced three-time Emmy winner Chandler Massey earlier this year) things could have gone awry but the transition has gone smooth.
As “Days” fans know the drama follows the Brady, the Horton, and the DiMera families as they deal with everyday trials of life in the Midwestern town of Salem. With its mix of classic genre traditions and groundbreaking narratives reflecting modern life, "Days of our Lives" remains a perennial favorite among viewers of all ages.
Daytime TV Examiner caught up with Wilson and Smith briefly at the Ceremony to get their thoughts about working with the crew and the two also shared some of their most memorable moments of working together this past year.
