Video: Howard Stern was 'like Lord Voldemort' to Rosie O'Donnell

Rosie O'Donnell may love Howard Stern now, but there was a time she thought of him as "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named".

O'Donnell appeared on 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' on Thursday to promote her new HBO documentary 'A Family is Forever: A Rosie O'Donnell Celebration' as well as her Sirius XM satellite radio show 'Rosie Radio'. Rosie said that before she and Howard Stern joined forces to conquer the radio's final frontier, the media mogul had her shaking like a first-year Hogwart.

"I was terrified of the guy. To me he was like Lord Voldemort. I wouldn't say his name, you know?" said Rosie O'Donnell, referencing the Harry Potter villain who stalks those that say his name aloud. "Now? I think there could be peace all over the world because he and I are hanging out."

The self-proclaimed 'King of All Media' spent years ridiculing the woman once proclaimed TV's 'Queen of Nice'. Howard Stern even held an ongoing contest in which Howard Stern SHow callers and guests tried to guess how many jelly beans were in the "big fat Rosie O'Donnell head" jar that he kept in studio.

The meeting of the minds between Rosie O'Donnell and Howard Stern came when Rosie called in to the Howard Stern Show in 2008, followed by an in-person interview in January 2009. Rosie O'Donnell gives Howard Stern full credit for her hiring and success at Sirius XM. "He's the one who got me the job," she told Ferguson. "He called up the president of Sirius and he said: 'You know--she would be good at this."

Ferguson had his own tale of a benevolent Howard Stern. Ferguson appeared on the Howard Stern Show in 2004 shortly after Stern made the announcement he'd been moving to satellite. "He was quite nice to me on the air and then off the air he was really nice to me," said Ferguson, but also referenced the Dark Lord's potential for evil: "I think he's quite frightening because he's unpredictable. He's a maverick and he's extremely erudite and he thinks very fast so if he doesn't like you he'll make you look really stupid."

Craig Ferguson said the he listened in on the recent Howard Stern Show-Rosie Radio crossover show on Tuesday morning. "I listened to you and Howard talk for about an hour. I've got to be honest. I'd forgotten how great Howard was. He's a genius."

Rosie O'Donnell agreed. "You-know-who" is now Howard Stern--a trusted business associate and friend

Rosie O'Donnell's 'A Family is Forever' premieres Sunday, January 31st at 7:00PM on HBO. 'Rosie Radio' airs weekdays from 10:00AM-12:00PM on Sirius Channel 102 and XM Channel 155.

My only question is: where can one get a Rosie head jar?

Great . . . as if Howie didn't have enough people at Sirius kissing his ass. She doesn't owe her boring-as-hell radio show to Stern. She owes it to the awful management at Sirius who will pay anyone whatever they want to do next to nothing as long as it gets them publicity.

What a strange pair--I never imagined that Howard& Rosie
would ever become friends, but it actually
makes sense. They share a lot in common-
they both have so much to say about pop
culture, and say it so well and so clearly--
& Rosie's take on the Jay Leno "you don't
get to drive the bus anymore" situation is so
sharp and funny.Howard can't help but admire
her outspokenness--she's like a female version
    of him on the radio!

Rosie's radio show is hilarious, and Rosie and Howard together are riveting. I just hope they make getting together a regular feature on both of their shows.

If you like Sirius XM then see their “rags to riches” story on DVD. The movie is called “Stock Shock” and it goes over the history, development, and near-death experience of the stock. I did not know the inventor of sirius xm was a woman!–well she is now, at least. DVD is cheaper at www.stockshockmovie.com, but the DVD is pretty much everywhere for sale.
