Video: Glenn Beck's newest crazy conspiracy theory is a scary civilian national security force

Glenn Beck continues to promote hysteria and paranoia.

Glenn Beck's newest conspiracy involves Barack Obama creating a powerful national security force that he will use to takeover the country.  Beck takes one quote entirely out of context from a speech of then-candidate Obama to make his case.  Beck's conspiracy theory like most requires a complete disregard for the facts and about a million logical jumps that simply do no make sense.

For some reason Beck still has credibility even though all of his previous scary conspiracy theories never came to fruition.  Beck claimed Obama was going to takeover everyone's computer through the CARS.gov website yet mysteriously there have been no serious complaints about computers being invaded since CARS began and ended.  Beck also cites flag@whitehouse.gov as evidence of a conspiracy but where are the people who have had a knock on their door from the White House regarding a "fishy" email?  Where is the proof of this censorship?

If I were to describe all the problems with Beck's conspiracy theory it would take years for this web page to download to your computer.  As it is let me describe a few of what are the most glaring problems with Beck's paranoid delusions on the Obama administration:

#1:  Beck is able to cite no real push directly from the Obama administration to create such a "takeover" force.

Beck can provide no reference to any actual creation of a force connected to Obama which is taking over our lives.  All of Beck's arguments rely on speculation with no real evidence.  For example, Beck pulls out a bag of NBC Obama merchandise.  From this Beck says we are suppose to believe government is taking over our lives with a civilian force?  Where was Beck when Fox News was practically in bed with George W. Bush?  Was government taking over our lives then?  The only examples Beck does provide is organization like the Black Panthers who Beck himself admits have absolutely no connection to President Obama's administration.  Those are Beck's words not my own.

#2:  President Obama was speaking about the volunteer organization of AmeriCorp and PeaceCorps not an actual armed force with guns.

FactCheck covered this concept comprehensively in this article.  FactCheck also, unlike Beck, provides a full context of the quote for better understanding.  President Obama was not talking about an SS organization that would use force but rather a civilian volunteer organization that would protect security through peaceful means.  How radical of the President to actually propose solving problems with education and volunteerism in addition to our military force!

For those who believe AmeriCorp or PeaceCorps are "radical" or intimidating organizations I would simply ask you to go and visit one of the offices or members of these organizations.  These "scary" organizations do things like help disadvantaged children and improve agriculture systems in underdeveloped countries.  These are not scary people to be compared to the SS or Saddam's thugs.  They are people trying to help the country and the world through peaceful means and Beck should be ashamed of diminishing their work.

#3:  Beck asks why Obama does not trust car dealers as his example of Obama's excessive investigation.

The CARS.gov website warning was intended to prevent the kind of fraud Fox News says was inevitable as part of the Cash for Clunkers program.  Does Beck really believe all car dealers should be trusted with a billion dollar program with no government oversight?  Does Beck believe every American should simply "trust" their car salesman when he tells them that the additional $3,000 paint protection coating on their new car is a bargain?

#4:  Beck proposes that as part of Obama's takeover Obama will have Obama killed.

I know that is confusing and that is exactly my point.  At the later part of this segment Beck seems to suggest that Obama and liberals actually want to have Obama shot so that they can takeover the government.  I will let the absurdity of this argument speak for itself.

#5:  Beck uses the same tactic of every crazy conspiracy theorist.

Beck continually ask the President to "answer this question" throughout his show.  Time and time again Beck says he would believe the President if he would just answer this question or that question.  First, some questions are so ridiculous they do not deserve a response.  Many in the believe Obama to be an alien should he really be forced to "answer their questions" regarding his trips to another galaxy?  Secondly, it is easy to ask questions but harder to provide answers.  Beck sows the seeds of paranoia and doubt which is easy for anyone to do by simply asking question after question.  You can make someone doubt that the sky is blue on a sunny day if you ask enough probing questions on the matter.  What Beck lacks is any answers himself as to how to solve the countries problems.  Finally, we all know that even if the President did answer Beck's question it would not accomplish anything.  Beck would either (1)  not believe the President since he does not trust him anyway or (2)  ask another question.  Much like the Birthers who were not happy with the "short form" birth certificate providing answers to conspiracy theorists simply fuels them to ask more question.

Hilarious. I just might have to watch Beck because of this article.

If you search "Obama civilian national security force" on Youtube.com, you will see Obama speaking of a "civilian national security force" "just as powerful, just as strong" as the military. Where is that reference in factcheck.org?

Heard the banter so now the questions: what is HR Bill 675? Why does the DoD need to have the right to arrest and sieze property? Who does the DoD report to?

H.R. 675: Building Obama’s Civilian National Security Force
    Text size
    Kurt Nimmo
    Infowars
    June 23, 2009
In January, without any recognizable corporate media coverage, Rep. Bob Filner, a California Democrat, introduced H.R. 675. The bill would amend title 10 of the United States Code and extend to civilian employees of the Department of Defense the authority to execute warrants, make arrests, and carry firearms. The bill was referred to the Armed Services Committee on January 26, 2009.

    Rep. Bob Filner

Filner’s bill would amend the United States code with the following: “Sec. 1585b. Law enforcement officers of the Department of Defense: authority to execute warrants, make arrests, and carry firearms… for any offense against the United States.” (Emphasis added.)

Glenn is voicing thoughts I have had a looong time about the racist socialist in the White House. You liberals are soft and naive... Obama is looking to change this nation into a nation of government loving socialists...

    NOBAMA!

  • history buff 2 years ago

reminds me of 1938 and the brown shirts, then the SS, then genecide of the jew. our constitution is being threatened by these power czars. nikita chruchev did not confront the United States because he knew he would lose. But he did say he would destroy the United States from within. Seems his plans are coming about. And I don't see it far fetched to sacrifice Obama for the cause.

  • Lucy 2 years ago

Uh, "Me" - if you actually READ the article on the factcheck.org website you'll see that they address that.

You, like Beck are taking one phrase out of context. Don't start hyperventilating until you get all the facts.

  • Lucy 2 years ago

And "History Buff" - READ YOUR HISTORY. There are NO parallels in the US to the Brownshirts of 1938.

And maybe if you actual read some history books instead of getting your information from Glenn Beck and World Net Daily, you'd know how to spell Nikita Khrushchev's name.

  • Mike in Mass 2 years ago

Keep drinking the MSM Kool-aid folks. There is real audio of King Obama saying that he wanted to create a civilian force with as much power as the military. Sound a little like the German SS? Hey Joe Sierra: According to Obumma's book, he also used drugs. Does that make him deceptive, illusory and misleading or doesn't that count because he is your esteemed leader?

  • Scott 2 years ago

Wait... What does this guy do so different from the Daily Show with John Stewart? Both set up their shows like its all factual, they both spout off about how horrible the presidents and parties are.

The only difference I can see is that John criticizes republicans and Glenn criticizes liberals. Not only that he claims the Media is mostly liberal, and I have to say listening to the outcry from the media about him and casting him in a negative light... I might start to agree!

  • Me 2 years ago

    Uh Lucy,
I read the article on factcheck.org, and they say that Obama's comment was taken out of context, so where is their proof the comment was taken out of context? I heard the entire speech, that is what Obama said. I think factcheck.org is biased and worthless.

  • Hoover 2 years ago

I though we already had a national civilian security force. - - -The FBI.

  • Mike 2 years ago

The article is another example of the liberal Marxist bias in the media. All you have to do is listen to Obama himself, see who he has and is surrounding himself with as advisors(i.e. czars), and read HR 675..If you can't draw the same conclusions that Beck has suggested, you are either as evil as Obama and his comrades, or just a mind-less robot in the same vein as the German masses who followed Hitler. I pray that all Democrats and liberals who truly love America, will begin thinking more about their country than themselves. They must do some objective patriotic analysis and see that Obama and his ilk are planning some very evil things to happen here. God Save America!!

All that I can say that the guy writing this article is nothing short of being an idiot. Wise up , one half trillion dollars Obama has set aside for a private police force. that is 500 billion, He runs with people who hate america, yes he is up to know good, hitler had the gustopa, saddam had the fedimine. Now Obama wants his, his is a radical muslim, he hates America. Get ready for total chaos , so Obama can call Marshall law and take complete control of the country. I am a racist of course because I don't like or trust this slime ball president. One day all of AMerica will wake up and everyone will feel like they need to take a shower to get the Obama stench off.

    Here's the full quote:

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Please explain to me, Ryan Witt, how that is taken out of context?

  • R. Day 2 years ago

Hey Everyone, Its now or never to keep ourselves free. He wants a civilian force...for what? To save New Orleans if there is another hurricane, or Mount St. Helens if there is another volcano? NO. To control you and me when we refuse to accept his new government. I say, never mind, "Yes, we can." we must say, "NO, YOU CAN'T!!!!" You can't have our country... I do believe his grandfather would be so heartbroken.

    Here is the full quote:

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Now tell me, Ryan Wit, how on earth that was taken out of context?

  • Mike K 2 years ago

I found your article to be as informative as MSNBC & ABC news. What you and all radical News/Bloggers fail to realize is I can pick apart every newscaster and there rhetoric. The difference we see currently is that we have a president who has not only changed the face of politics (Racially) he has also changed politics in a manor never before seen. The color of his skin is the road block all networks and reporters don't no how to address, and thus are giving him a free ride on many of his ideals, principles, and campaign promises. That aside i watch all networks and so far Fox news is the only station reporting the real news. Its sad but in politics we now have a 1 network viewpoint. That is also very scary. The citizens are aware that the other networks have a love affair with our president like no other before. You tell me why? I no why. do you. and are you willing to admit it. You cant tell me you approve of everything the President has done. From your postings I see maybe you do. T

  • Mike K 2 years ago

The reality is Beck may have some outrageous belief of whats going on and many people are listening. But in conjunction with whom the president has surrounded himself with. Common seance says this doesn't look right maybe we as concerned citizens should be worried. That is what Beck is doing. Id it takes conspiracy theories to get the people inspired in there country then i am all for it. I would rather theorize then be taken for a ride with blinders on.

So which are you. Are you blinded by Obama or do you seek the truth? Do you want a passive people or informed? Do you have your take on whats going on our are you only able to comment on others and unable to think on your own? More importantly do you support this country and its Constitution or are you a follower of a man who's intent is unknown?

  • rjm 2 years ago

Call him crazy or whatever other names you can come up with - name-calling is not the same as proof that ANY of Beck's information is not what is actually occurring?

  • Ryan 2 years ago

What did he take out of context? His theory is based on part fact, and part speculation. He is not a conspiracy theorist. Does he insist that the US is trying to kill off 80-90 percent of the population like some sycos who insist that? He is simply piecing together. And for the last time, he is critical of both parties. He is a true patriot. He is not just a lamb following either party.

  • A Real American 2 years ago

The scary part is that Ryan Witt, nor any other liberal, nor Obama will answer any of the questions proposed by Beck. Why? Because they don't understand that this is no longer a left\right issue. This is about a group of people disguised as Democrats who are actually Communists. Wake up Dems. You're being used. I think this will soon come to light.

  • MobGolfer 2 years ago

I wonder how our police departments feel about having a few hundred thousand potential vigilantes roaming the streets? You can bet they won't be concerned with ACORN rallies, but don't let grandma go to a tea party.

  • Lisa 2 years ago

Glenn Beck is nothing more than an entertainer. He calls himself a "commentator" rather than a journalist and admits that he doesn't fact check ANYTHING.

  • Jen 2 years ago

I guess you didn't see where Glenn said "I'm asking questions". You can spin it however you want to, but I don't see any facts you have given in your response other than Factcheck and we all know that's as biased as MSNBC and CNN! Come on...if you are going to call someone out on not posting 'facts' then at least post some facts of your own. At least Glenn said he was asking questions and didn't pretend he knew the truth. I can't believe you would call anyone a conspiracy theorists for just asking questions. That pretty much does justify what Glenn said about 'name calling' over the last 10 years...doesn't it? And no matter what Glenn said about Van Jones...the TRUTH is Jones admitted he was a communist and a radical (I saw the video) and the TRUTH IS he was also arrested more than once. Jones is now advising Mr. Obama? That gives me a warm and fuzzy....(NOT)

  • Chris 2 years ago

I think the underlying problem is the amount of money being spent here. Sure Beck is sensationalizing but why did americorp get 5 billion dollars from the stimulus? Obama said he wanted to build a civilian corp funded as well as the US millitary. Thats 500 Billion dollars. Isn't this just wellfare in disguise? Isn't this just a false economy? how long can you borrow money to give people goverment jobs painting houses etc? Do the Dems really think that stealing more money from the the people of the united states after the republicans did exactly that for the last 8-years will work? How long can this go on? Why are they spending the money they say they can save? What if they can't save as much as they say? what the hell? This country is in serious trouble. That's why Beck has such a huge audience. All the talk about him being crazy or whatever doesn't change the fundamentals. We have some really tuff times ahead of us.

  • Darren 2 years ago

Lisa said Beck admits he doesn't fact check anything. That is a lie. Also, on nearly every show Beck tells his viewers not to take his word for anything. He advises everyone to check out everything he says and GET THE FACTS FOR THEMSELVES. And Ryan, Beck's source is Obama himself. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just a strong, and just as well funded as our military." That's a direct quote. Obama said it and it cannot be denied. Why do we need such a force? Who is the enemy they will be defending us from? According to you it's wrong to even ask these questions.

  • Mike S 2 years ago

I'm sure someone like Michael Moore could look into these matters and give us a truly "unbiased documentary"... We could watch it and cry together about how this administration is so missunderstood! Maybe he could also rundown the anti-war protesters that dropped everything to endlessly hammer the Bush administration over Iraq but have nothing to say about our increased involvement in Afghanistan. Maybe that is because there really isn't any media coverage of "that" war...

  • John F. 2 years ago

Beck is a conspiracy nut. And most of you wack jobs are nuts too. Beck says: "get the facts yourself" because he cant spew his wacky theories if he himself actually does any fact checking.

One commenter says the "proof" behind these theory is Obamas unwillingness to answer Becks "questions". The truth is that Obama doesnt suffer fools. No leader should waste their time on completely unsubstantiated claims, especially from someone who provides ZERO facts to substantiate his claims, AND benefits financially from his increased viewership.

Another commenter says no one has any proof that Becks theories are not true. This is a ludicrous double-standard: to not demand proof from Beck to support his outlandish theories, then to demand proof from Becks detractors. And it demonstrates an absence of reason that borders on hysterical.

A third commenter says the author provided absolutely zero facts, then admits that facts (and their sources) were indeed cited.

  • Ryan Witt 2 years ago

Matt: It is not that I do not like the man personally it is that I believe his arguments do nothing to help the political conversation and actually mislead people. I feel a responsibility to tell what I believe to be the truth regarding his arguments because his massive audience makes his argument very prevalent in the debate. If anything it is a compliment to Beck that I feel the need to cover his arguments so much. If his ratings were pitiful and no one was listening to him believe me I would not give his theories the time of day. The fact is to his credit he has a massive audience and his arguments actually do have an effect on the political debates of the day. So I will not apologize for covering him extensively as I believe it is important.

Go to youtube or order the video called: The Obama Deception . On there you can hear in Obama's own words how he wants to create a national security force equal in power to the U.S. military. All liberals seem to do is resort to name calling, labeling, and attacking Bush. They don't seem to undersatnd that Beck supporters blame Bush and Obama, Republican and Democrat, liberal and conservative, and modrate for the corruption of in Washington. Obama won because america wants the system fixed and the out of control spending to stop. He has increased spending increased earmarks, increased lobbying, and appointed special interests into goverment positions. Listen up Ryan and all those like you. Deflection and diversion and villifying the other party does not work. The Amaerican people know that all the politicains are to blame. The system needs to be, and will be, changed in 2010.

Pretty much once all this is done we will be a socialist country. Some of you are so blinded by wanting Obama to be this Godsend that you don't see our country changing for the worse right before your eyes.

  • Ryan Witt 2 years ago

So when Beck calls Van Jones a communist and radical these are legitimate attacks but if I point out Beck's flawed reasoning this is name calling? Really? Also, is name calling always bad except when you call me a "kool aid" drinker, liberal, and a "cronie"? Please let me know when name calling is acceptable when it is not OK since many of you seem to be the arbitrators on the issue.
