Glenn Beck's reference to his daughter was heartfelt but not true for all.
In the video clip below Glenn Beck recounts the history Nazi eugenics which ultimately culminated in the holocaust. Beck's recitation of Nazi history is fairly accurate. However, what is completely missing is any real justification for his connection between the current health care bill and the Nazi's programs.
Beck's claim is that government will be deciding who will live and die under the reform package. He further assumes that government will decide to kill of old people, the insane, and others deemed not worthy of living. Absent in all of Beck's discussion is any reference to any language in the health care bill which could justify such claims.
Furthermore, entirely missing in Beck's discussion is any reference to the "eugenics" of the current health care system. Does Beck not think that people are currently denied care on some basis of eugenics. Beck's daughter, who he refers to in this segment, could get the best care in the world because of the finances Beck has to pay for her health care costs. Someone who lacks such finances would have problems getting such care simply because they lack Beck's millions in cash. Millions are denied insurance and care right now based on pre-existing conditions or denials of care for those that are insured. Eugenics is happening already and it is the rich who are ultimately favored while the poor are killed off. If anything the health care reform plan would reduce eugenics by opening up health care to a larger population.
Beck acts as if government will take away medical decisions from the people and put them in the hands of the government. The truth is most people do not have the complete array of health care choices Beck has because of his finances. Most people are already severely limited because of their finances. Those that do have insurances have many decisions made for them already by health insurance companies. So the freedom Beck claims will be taken away is already being taken away for millions by the current insurance system.

For your information, it DOES state that after age 65, you will be FORCED to go to MANDATORY end-of-life counseling every 5 years UNLESS you have a chronic illness, in which case it will be EVERY YEAR in order to find ways to end your life sooner.
It also states that NO TREATEMENT for any illness like heart disease, cancer etc, will be given ONLY NUTRITION AND PAIN MEDICATION!
READ THE BILL, BEFORE YOU SHOOT YOUR MOUTH OFF-I DID AND I'LL BE DAMNED IF I'D VOTE FOR IT! YOU MAY AS WELL GET THE FIRING SQUAD READY BECAUSE YOUR PARENTS AND ANYONE WITH TERMINAL ILLNESS DOESN'T STAND A CHANCE!!!!

BASIC, ENHANCED AND PREMIUM OPTIONS. Enhanced is an 85% option, Premium is a 95% option. WHY THREE LEVELS IF WE ARE ALL SUPPOSEDLY RECEIVING THE SAME PLAN? AND WHY ARE THE GOVERMENT OFFICIALS (CONGRESS, SENATE, ETC) EXEMPT FROM THIS PLAN??????!!!!!!
Christine: The plan does not force anyone to have end of life consultations. Read the actual language of HR 3200 sections 1232 and 1233. It COVERS OPTIONAL end of life consultations but it DOES NOT FORCE people to have such consultations. I have read the bill, have you? Refer to my two pieces in which I give a plain language summary of HR 3200 and also my piece specifically on page 425 of the bill which addresses the alleged "mandatory" end of life consultations you assume are in the bill. You can even look at the comments sections where others tried to argue your side. In the end, none were able to conclusively show ANYWHERE in the bill where end of life consultations are mandated. On the contrary, they are covered as an OPTION of the elderly.
Beck cited Obama's advisers as having supported euthanasia, not that it was explicitly in the current bill. The implication is clear if one accepts that the government will no be letting older people get health care because it is not good for society to spend money to help them.
What is funny about this is that after he ranted, he went on to advertise a legal site that does living wills, that which he bases his rants against.

This health care plan is about eugenics and the author is sorely misinformed. Beck is not the only one and if you did your homework you would know that Eugenics never died out in America. The number 1 eugenics organization, headed up by Margaret Sanger, became planned parenthood. They have targeted black babies and 85% of their organizations are in black neighborhoods. Be it rash or not; how about allowing the people to decide for themselves if they want coverage or not(without a penalty for not buying it) This issue should not be about blanketing everyone under mandated coverage. Ultimately, we will keep making insurance companies richer no matter what happens. Try massive regulation on corporate insurance companies NOT socialist control on the American individual. The issue should be about providing reasonable health care costs for individuals; NOT forced coverage so the government can compete with private providers while exploiting the American people with non compliance sanctions! That is EXTORTION and makes our government no better than organized crime. At this point, NO FIX is better than the one being proposed!
AT 0:42 GLEN, in his own words, says "...WE needed to control costs..." to explain the German eugenics program. Does this slip mean that Glen was in on the German eugenics program and is hiding the fact? I was shocked - as you should be - but it is in "HIS OWN WORDS" as he would say.
Funny, this article started by saying Beck was way off base then... um.. went on to say eugenics is happening now...
