Video: Glenn Beck apologizes for Van Jones error nearly four months after the fact

Glenn Beck accused Van Jones of being a convict.  AP Photo Evan Agostini

Today Glenn Beck corrected a major error he made while attacking Van Jones nearly four months ago.  Among the many statements Beck made against Van Jones he also accused Jones of being convicted felon.  Liberals and bloggers like myself were quick to point out the truth that Van Jones was never convicted of a felony.  Despite this fact Beck's followers frequently stood by his attack on Van Jones as a convicted felon simply because Beck had told them it was so.

In the end Beck's attacks on Van Jones (including the one about Jones being a convicted felon) led to Jones resignation as Special Adviser on Green Jobs.  Of course Beck's apology now does very little for Van Jones and in the end who knows whether it would have made a difference at the time.  Beck claims the real point was what Van Jones allegedly "learned" while in jail but at the very least Beck's admission of error four months ago would have led some to question whether he was being entirely truthful in his Van Jones assault.

What Beck's admission could do is make others question his current attacks on others in the Obama administration.  Three months from now will Beck also apologize for another error in his attacks on Anita Dunn?  If the value of gold plummets in a few months will Beck apologize to those he encouraged to buy gold four months after the fact?  Time will only tell.  If Beck is wrong about everything he is saying his followers can still count on him admitting his errors, they will just have to wait four months to hear it.

    Ryan,
How wrong could Beck have really have been about Van Jones overall? A self proclaimed entertainer sheds light on Jones' character and agenda and Jones quickly resigns. Are you serious Ryan? Do you really think that the error regarding the felony is where the real story is? If you were on the Titanic, would you be writing about how the chef undercooked your filet as the ship goes down?

Who cares at least that communist piece of garbage is no longer in the white house. I wish he and his family were in hell where every damn communist needs to go.

  • Robert Abooey 2 years ago

Witt is still defending the self-avowed communist and 9/11 "truther" Van Jones I see.Once again he shows the disconnect between far-left moonbats and mainstream Americans.

with a little luck i will get to westbury on 1/23 and get to meet beck and bill o'reilly. now if only ann coulter happens to show uo backstage i could die a happy man

  • Glenn Beck's "politics" 2 years ago

The word "politics" is in quotation marks because there are no real political foundations behind Beck's beliefs. He spouts a vague, nebulous form of nationalism without grounding in any real world policy (except a complete set of lies about what the Founders wrote). It is governance-lite; or, more accurately, it is anarchy. His religious beliefs are devoid of actual Christian suffering and redemption. It's faith without much more work than a good therapy session. In other words, he has no beliefs at all, other than to suck your wallets dry, but he disguises that fact in words, words, words and tears, tears, tears.

I can't beleive there is a story written about this. Somebody (Witt) actually sat down and made sure that it was well known that this communist is not a convicted felon. I guess that totally discredits Beck. He's just a fraud. I'm speaking in sarcasm, if you morons couldn't tell. Real provocotive story there Witt. Witt for the Pulitzer!

By the way, I would have commented on Glenn Becks "Polotics" comment, but there comes a point when you just let retards live in their little retard bubble.

  • maddog 2 years ago

Wow. Imagine Beck making a political "mistake" like that and then waiting until it doesn't matter anymore to correct it. Seems almost like he's copying the tactics of you leftards. For shame. I'm shaking my index finger at him right now. Bad Glen. Bad.

    Gigi....oh GIGI!!!!!

You may apologize for slandering me any time you wish, now that even Beck has admitted he was 'incorrect' in his statements.

  • The Christmas Sweater 2 years ago

Beck's performance involves lots of throwing himself on the floor, rolling around, doing stereotyped voices for every character, and crying, to the point that at some point it becomes a parody of crying. That would probably be when Beck is fetal on the ground, sobbing while the fat black woman sings something. Al Pacino at his most scene-chewing, barking mad would look at Beck and say, "Too far, too far." Oh, and he uses a teleprompter.

  • jaime 2 years ago

Beck has admitted an error. He's owned up to it. I would say he's "Manned" up to it, but that would offend many of our.....err "sensitive" Liberals here. So I redact it, admit I was Thunkin it.

Now exactly WHERE and exactly WHEN was ANY Liberal/Democratic admission to a mistake, mistatement, or miss-directed slander?? It make Beck more credable that HE can admit mistakes.

    Wow....OH WOW!!!

Exactly what I was thinking. Do you guys really think that Van Jones resigned because everyone was mad about his felony? It doesn't have anything to do with the Marxist/communists statements that he made, does it? Could it have anything to do with the statements that he made related to redistribution of wealth based solely on race? I know I'm just a pathetic little tea party goer to you. But, dude, are you serious?

  • wow 2 years ago

jaime, she repeatedly called me a liar for claiming Beck said exactly what he said - and which he now admits was untrue - even after I posted the transcript.

so yeah - put on your gigi mask and 'man up.'

  • jaime 2 years ago

My bird-call to you was to answer my question about Liberals admitting their mistakes.

This is only loosely related the the fact of Liberals BEING a mistake. But understanding my target audience....well we can take one at a time.

  • Ryan Witt 2 years ago

David H: Exactly my point. Beck distorted his statements on Communism and redistribution of wealth as well. Yet you accept it as fact even though Beck has admitted he was wrong on Van Jones on other matters.

That's all it takes to make a simpleton a happy man, meeting other simpleton entertainers who lie for a living? Really? You'll die a happy man from meeting those four morons? Well, it will take a lot more for me to reach that goal of dying a happy man than to meet ankle-deep intelligent buffoons who spit, howl and lie for a living on TV and Radio every day. I'm shooting for something with more substance, but to each his own.

  • Gigi 2 years ago

    Ryan,
I wonder how long it's going to take you to 'apologize' for your
    'distortions'....

  • glenn fathered trigg 2 years ago

the thing is, he cake-boy can say he disagrees with Obama all he likes, but bashing a sitting president is very un-patriotic, just like beck said it was when liberals were bashing Bush. disagree all you like beck, but quit lying about socialism, marxism, etc, etc. go back tp playing "jepratardy" and "moron-trivia" thats when you were really entertaining.

  • Gigi 2 years ago

    Wow,

If you'll recall (or go back and check the blogs) I said that Van Jones mislead people himself to make it look like he had been convicted and was converted to 'communism' while in jail. (the truth his; he was already a communist) and Beck bought Jones 'distortion'.

Nice try though! ( I suppose you're going to call out Van Jones for distorting the truth??? HA HA)

  • wow 2 years ago

Oh, I've checked and rechecked, gigi - and posted the EXACT QUOTES from Beck's own transcripts demonstrating both what Beck said and how it was wrong.

You are as much a distorter of fact as those you decry - and apparently feel you can just deny it.

You called me a liar - your word - and as we can see, I told the truth - while you still are not.

  • Gigi 2 years ago

    Wow,

I am not disputing that you quoted Beck! Why are we arguing about this again? I know what Beck said and I explained it in my post below....!

I really don't blame you though for being so excited about being right, but I had already admitted that you were 'right' about what he said....I just think you should have acknowledged that it was Jones who was lying and Beck who had been fooled by Jones' own statement.

  • wow 2 years ago

and you continue to distort the truth, gigi - Jones statements were clear; Beck LIED about what Jones said -- and YOU denied that Beck said Jones was in prison, until you ran away from the discussion after I provided the direct quote from Beck's transcript.

We can all see, however, why you are so enamored of Beck - you engage in the same kind of half-truths and innuendo, leaving rhetorical bombs and then running away when confronted with facts.
