This morning I again witnessed one of the most amazing sights on earth, the Northern Lights lighting up the night sky.
Just after midnight this morning the sky lit up with the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis due to a geomagnetic storm.
The geomagnetic solar storm was caused by a coronal mass ejection "aka CME" that hit the Earth's magnetic field on on Friday September 9th. Since the moon was almost full, the Northern Lights were barely visible to the naked eye until just after Midnight local time when they peaked in intensity for about 15 minutes.
