The Geminid meteor shower is coming! The Geminid meteor shower will peak on December 13-14, 2009. Geminids are one of the most reliable meteor showers, and if skies are clear it can easily be seen. See the video below for past Geminid meteor showers.
One of the great things about the Geminid meteor shower is that it can be seen early in the evening around 9 pm CST, and not in the middle of the night. Meteor shower watchers will be able to see dozens of meteors per hour, and that will rise to more than 100 meteors when it peaks at 9 pm CST.
Light from the moon is not expected to overpower the meteors. See related articles below for comments about past meteor showers and lights in the sky.
