Geisy Arruda is a Brazilian university student who was expelled for wearing a short, pink mini-dress to class. Arruda posed for photos in the dress on campus. On Sunday, the University took out a newspaper ad and publicly accused Geisy Arruda of immorality.
Bandeirante University is a private university outside Sao Paulo in Brazil. The university claims that Geisy Arruda, 20 disrespected "ethical principles, academic dignity and morality."
On October 22, Arruda made headlines when was escorted away by police after attempting to attend class wearing the short dress. In the video below she is wearing professor's white coat, and is seen being heckled as she leaves the campus.
According to the Associated Press, the advertisement titled Educational Responsibility in Sunday’s paper stated that Arruda was accused of attending class with "inadequate clothing" and having a provocative attitude that was "incompatible with the university environment." The university said it warned Arruda several times before deciding to expel her. They spoke to students, staff and Arruda before making their decision. The ad accuses Arruda of posing for pictures and provoking other students.
Arruda said that the university has not officially notified her that she was expelled, but the first she heard about it was when she read the ad in the newspaper. She said that she was told last week she would be allowed to return to class.
Many universities do have official codes that tell students how to dress. Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah (a Mormon private school) has an honor code that must be obeyed or students are suspended and expelled. Many students have been expelled from the school and it is usually heavily portrayed in the media when it happens.

Good for the university! It's about time that some young women AND young men learned that their libertine dress offends and distracts many. This young lady openly flaunted the rules of her university and is now pretending to be the victim. I have zero sympathy for her.
It is normal in Brazil to dress short clothes. That event only shows how a part of brasilian population can be oppressive against women.
Praise Allah! You infidels need to learn to control your women and keep them covered.
I wonder if this article will receive 1 brazilian hits.

JDD: Nice troll, either that or you've caught the ghey.
There is a time to be slutty in the Uni.
Usually in the Prof's office as he grades your papers.
The university probably sucks anyway. Any group this stupid shouldn't be teaching anything.
I remember high school in the 1960s when I would be delivering some address at the front of the class, and staring down at a schoolmate's miniskirt, and the crotch of the panty-hose. He did'nt seem to mind - neither did the authorities. Time to lighten up. "Once a glimpse of stocking was considered shocking, but Heaven knows - anything goes!"
Worthless without pics.
I'm from Brazil, and I'm ashamed that something like this happened. We're all ashamed with that in here.
I demand a picture as proof thst this dress was obscene!
watch the video! the girl is in the video in the mini-dress...
Here in Brazil this subject was like a bomb. I think the university just come back in its decision because all the world have know what have happened here. The University should have protected the students at the first moment she was in the university. I think the University should be punished.
The funny part of this and you commenting and all is that, the Principal of this University here is an American !!!!!
Mr. Ellis Brown is the one who expelled the lady.
Thats the comical part of it: the same americans condemning her actions, is the same taking the actions against her, detail: in Brazilian soil !!
Enough is enough! I am tired of Americans dictating whats moral or not in my own land!
Out Mr Borwn ! Go back to your country and leave us alone ....
What????? So what if a prostitute wants to get smart????
Got something to say?
