We’ve played the game, now Tom Clancy’s novel becomes a movie. “Splinter Cell” is the espionage video game series that took gamers into a world of high-profile fun. Ubisoft owns the game and is now making its way into the film market.
Along with “Splinter Cell,” “Assassin’s Creed” is ready to be adapted into a movie starring Michael Fassbender.
There is rumor that Tom Hardy (Inception, Lawless and The Dark Knight Rises) may be the leading man in “Splinter Cell.”
According to Variety, Hardy has signed on for the role of Sam Fisher, the ninja type operative in the Black-ops unit, Echelon.
The script is being penned by Eric Warren Singer (TheInternational).
Ubisoft has voiced its intent to become known for making games into movies, sort of like the companies such as Marvel with their comic book character films. Ubisoft has joined with Fox for “Assassin’s Creed” and Paramount will work with them to develop “Splinter Cell.”
No word yet as to when the film will come out in 2014.
