9/12 has finally come. To the average viewer it seems as though the Tea Party express culminating in the 9/12 protest in Washington D.C. have been hyped more than the Super Bowl by Fox News.
Watch Fox News for more than an hour or two and you are sure to see a "report" which in all reality is a cheap promotion for the Tea Party express. Sean Hannity provides one of the best examples of these promotions below. Glenn Beck has also endlessly been talking about the "huge" Tea Party event on 9/12 which he will just happen to be covering.
Also notice how all of this is happening "spontaneously" even though it is explicitly being promoted as a planned event. The marketing strategy behind the Tea Party Express puts Geico to shame.
I fully support the right of these organizations to protest and even to buy ad time on all the networks promoting themselves. What I find suspicious to say the least is how a "news" organization can continually cover such protests in a glowing light and call them "reports." Particularly when the same organizations is likely receiving ad revenue from the same organizations which creates a conflict of interest.
The truth is thousands will show up at these protests because thousands are genuinely upset with what the Obama administration is doing. These protests deserve some coverage but not the extended hype that Fox News gives them. At the very least if Fox News does cover these protests this much they owe it to their viewers to inform them of how these protests are funded and who they are being organized by behind the scenes.

President Obama continued to reverse his predecessor's policies this week by undoing a controversial Bush administration rule known as "preemption" that used federal regulations to override state laws on the environment, health, public safety and other issues.
Husband is in DC today. He decided one week ago to go, by himself. He doesn't know a soul there. We funded his trip. We work our a**es off to make a good living and are responsible for ourselves - we live in a house we can afford and drive cars we can afford because we worked to pay them off. I doubt we're unlike many there today, who spend our time WORKING not playing politics. How in the world we'd have time to join an organization is beyond me. We already belong to the working class and pay people to represent our interests. They don't. We are sick of the handouts and the government getting in every aspect of our lives! BTW - He says the huge crowd is unbelievable!

In comparison the coverage for the tea party by newspapers, TV stations (other the fox, which I don't get, but assume covered it by this article) has only been crying about Fox. As for this protest, I have seen little about it, (I don't get Fox) from any of these sources. Take that back, I've read multiple articles crying about Fox. Here's an idea since you all have the same idea, why don't we skip all you middlemaen and just get this from your source. The money saved could fund healthcare.

I was there. I went on a bus that held about 18,000 people. We were given T-Shirts that said "RL" on the front, and that would get us into all the planned activities. I was told that it stands for Rupert's Lemmings. We cheered for a guy by the name of Wilson. We were told that we should regard him as our hero. Many of the other passengers in the bus were planning on moving to South Carolina so they could vote for him. As a bonus we watched taped Glenn Beck shows on the way home. He is so special, but I have to tell you sometimes he seems to act a bit looney.
It's interesting comparing the posts from the Obama worshipers to those by the Tea Party crowd in this thread... Two entirely different groups of people and ways of thinking.

The only reason some people think people are payed to be there is that is how the Democratic party operates. So far no one has been able to find a single person at any of these protests who was paid to be there, and believe me they've tried.
I'm betting if this were an anti war march it would be applauded instead of vilified and it would be all over the news, and this "writer" would have no problem with it.
I watched CNN this morning, they covered Obama's rally where he was speaking and talked to people in the crowd and officials. That took about 21/2 minutes Then they covered the "anti tea party express and talked to people there, that took another 2 minutes, then they mentioned there was an "anti health care" rally in DC and showed a picture of the crowd for 5 seconds and on to the next story.
My husband and I laughed and laughed...they have really outed themselves haven't they. The state run media is getting to be a more and more accurate moniker.
The people who try and dismiss this movement are the ones who have no idea what it is truly about. These are Republicans AND Democrats alike who realize our system is broken and corrupt, not just the fact Obama is continuing the trend of bankrupting our country. WAKE UP LEFT!! This is about an out of control government that elects themselves based on political favors they owe PACs and lobbyists that funnel money to their campaign. Even several Senators interviewed today that both parties are the problem. If you spend any time on the internet reading the reactions it is stunning to me how out of sync the liberal left is on this subject. They keep making it political when in reality it’s Americans who realize the country is headed in the wrong direction. I’m angered by the MSM not covering much of what is happening and underwriting this radical movement.
I would just like to see the real numbers from the attendance.. ABC took down the 2 million # and most of the left mdia is down playing it with a tens of thousands... From what I saw it looked like a high # but I have no clue how many..
