Almost everyone, including President Obama, was surprised when the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded him with the Nobel Peace Prize. The Committee credits President Obama with essentially changing the global conversation toward peace instead of armed conflict. In addition the Committee credited Obama for his efforts to reduce nuclear arms and prevent climate change even if those efforts have yet to produce tangible results.
For his part President Obama said he was "humbled" in winning the award. Sensing that some may view the award as premature the President also said he sees the award as a "call to action."
Fox News coverage of the President's award has not been positive. The Fox and Friends panel said that the President has not actually done anything to win the award. In addition in the first clip below the Fox panel states that others were much more deserving of the prize. Then Fox and Friends continued criticism by saying that the President won the award for merely not being George Bush. Finally Fox News continued the criticism of the President when they accused President Obama of delaying the troop increase in Afghanistan so that he could win the award.
On MSNBC they are already comparing this conservative reaction to that of conservatives when Chicago lost its Olympics bid. In that case some conservatives celebrated the loss of Chicago and in this case some conservatives seem to be upset that an American has won a prestigious international award.

For that he receives the Nobel Piece Prize.

Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize — an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride — unless of course you are the Republican Party. The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim."
Next prize goes to the lefts favorite director, Roman Polanski for all the work he has done with the young girls of LA. For that he received the Nobel Piece Prize!
The Nobel Committee has long since passed beyond legitimacy. It is a Joke. They are trying to dictate domestic policy with public opinion. We'll like you if you do as we do.

Frankly, jaime, they don't care what you or I think. They are a separate organization founded by Nobel with his money as his way of compensating for his creation of dynamite and being dubbed "The merchant of death" - and how they decide prizes and spend their money is entirely their own discretion.

This award is given in grateful thanks to the American electorate for not subjecting the world to George Bush's third term via President McCain.
The people at fox news have really sunk to new lows this time. As soon as I heard that he won I tried to figure out how this would be spun to make him look bad. Never did I imagine that the talking point would be to have the balls to accuse Obama of putting american lives at risk in Afghanistan to win the award. Anyone who states that should be completely ashamed of their status as a "journalist", "commentator" or even human being. What in the world has anyone seen from Obama to assume that he would be that selfish and that callous. It may be the cruelest talking point so far. Please tell me that moderate repubs don't believe this. There is nobobdy I know outside of a villian in a Diehard movie that would make life or death decisions to win a Nobel Peace Prize. Absolutely shameful irresponsible bull from the conservatives. They should be sued for slander, why does that not happen. Do we really think that malice could not be proved at this point? I have never been so disgusted.

Many starting with the President himself have acknowledged he may not have deserved the award. Those committed to conflict with our President have issued criticisms. I am a Republican and can't understand how Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck are comfortable agreeing with sworn enemies of the USA including the Taliban, Hezbolah, and Al Queida. They should take a cue from John McCain as he was our candidate in the last election.
