As Joe Scarborough points out in the clip below there simply must be more important issues Republicans and parents can focus on instead of the Obama school speech. I will acknowledge that Republicans have legitimate concerns about the growing national debt, Afghanistan, Iran, and even the reach of health care reform. What I can not accept is that a school address about hard work and setting educational goals deserves this much hoopla. Allow me please to outline my reasoning.
First, the speech will be made public to the entire world the Monday before the actual address on Tuesday. If parents are really concerned they can simply look up the speech and go over all the Obama statements with their child in a detailed fashion. I dare say this might even be educational.
Secondly, the most "controversial" language involved in the accompanying lessons has been removed. As I said before I doubt most teachers will even use the lessons released by the Department of Education but even those that do will now being using more "neutral" lessons which omit any words about "helping" President Obama.
Thirdly, to any concerned parents I would like to make a list of the things which I am quite sure will have more impact on your child than the Obama speech: (1) You (2) their friends (3) their teacher (4) the other six hours of lessons they do that day (5) television (6) video games (7) the internet (8) their church if they attend (9) whatever books they read and finally (10) the million other things that will likely influence them in the future like liberal college professors. Every parent has the right to raise their child as they wish and I am sure many parents will ignore me as they can. However I would submit the persons and items listed above are all things parents should be more concerned about instead of the Obama school address.
As I have stated before it seems a bit overblown to think that Obama will manage to secretly brainwash millions of school children across the United States with a thirty minute presentation. Let those who disagree with point out the flaws in my reasoning if you will. I would simply ask that you keep things civil in your comments.

Joe Scarborough is the token RINO on MSDNC.Do you really expect any conservatives to take him seriously? He should be viewed as Pat Buchanan is by MSDNC viewers and anchors.......as a "crazy uncle" and failed pol.
After reading Witt's ten things that will "have more impact on your child than the Obama speech" I would think the president would have to ask, "why bother talking to kids." Why would President Obama waste precious time making a speech that he felt would have so little impact? A little less exaggeration is in order Mr. Witt.
maybe the thirty minutes should be used for teaching grammar in the classroom...Mr Witt..."everyONE has a right to raise THEIR own child.........."????????
Virginia: Good point correction made. See how we can all learn from each other when we are at least willing to listen?
Scarborough has terrible ratings and he'll take any position just to blow up some dust. Fact is he rarely moves any dirt.
