A 6-year-old dying girl, Elena Desserich left behind hundreds of notes for her family when she knew she was dying of brain cancer. Elena hid the notes everywhere in the house, inside books, containers, in Christmas decorations…everywhere in the house.
Elena had cancer and died less than six months after being diagnosed. The father of the little girl said it is wonderful to find the notes and he hopes it continues. He said that the notes were comforting, and that it is as though Elena was trying to say it was ok that she died.
The little girl died two years ago, and her family found another note this week. The Desserich family has written a book called Notes Left Behind 135 days with Elena which is a collection of notes from Elena. See the video below for the entire story.
In 2001, a 12-year old boy with liver cancer had a dying wish to see the Pope and Utah Make a Wish Foundation granted his wish and flew the family to Rome. The boy died on Christmas Eve in peace his parents said.
