VIDEO: David Letterman's Apology

David Letterman apologized to his wife on last night's David Letterman Show, stating that she "has been horribly hurt by my behavior.

Letterman also apologized to staff members whom he said were being "browbeaten and  humiliated" by reporters since his confession last Thursday. In addition, he said his sexual exploits with staffers were "a thing of the past."

Not wanting to leave anyone out of his apologies, Letterman apologized to Sarah Palin once again.

Well, I must say that hearing an apology and a statement about the work cut out for him to repair the damage goes a long way for me. I have more respect for him than I used to, now he's in the hot seat and he's being a man about it.

There would have been no opportunity to blackmail him in the first place if the public didn't have such a prurient interest in people's sex lives. He's not a politician visiting prostitutes while prosecuting other people for visiting prostitutes. He's a comedian who was not married during the time the events occurred. His digs at famous people who had affairs were targeted at those who public and self-righteously claimed fidelity to their spouses and then proved to be hypocrites. Letterman is no hypocrite. He is right to recognize that he has his work cut out for him with respect to his private relationships. He is also right to remind us that he's the victim here. Were the public to mind its business, this crime would not have been possible to begin with. And he's also right to make jokes about what happened. He's a comedian, first of all, and he's always been a self-deprecating comedian, especially where his relationships with women are concerned.

HE DID NOT APOLOGIZE TO HIS WIFE ON-AIR; HOPEFULLY HE DID IT IN PERSON. LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAID.
