BMI presented its annual pre-Grammy event,“How I Wrote That Song" event on January 25 at The House of Blues in West Hollywood. The panel included ACM and CMA ‌winning songwriter Dallas Davidson, Grammy nominated and winning artists Linda Perry, Wiz Khalifa, Alex Da Kid and Charlie Wilson.

The event was sponsored by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and moderated by BMI Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations Catherine Brewton from Atlanta.

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) is a global leader in music rights management and represents the public performance rights in more than 8.5 million musical works created and owned by more than 600,000 songwriters, composers, and music publishers.

The songwriters on the panel discussed the process of writing, producing and performing hit songs. Each panelist shared stories on how their greatest hits came to be.

Wilson is a R&B singer-songwriter-producer and the former lead vocalist of the legendary group the Gap Band. As a solo artist, he has been nominated for seven Grammy awards, received a Soul Train Icon Award, BMI Icon Award and a BET Lifetime Achievement award. In 2009, he was named Billboard magazine's No. 1 Adult R&B Artist, and his song "There Goes My Baby" was named Billboard's No. 1 Urban Adult Song for 2009.

Wilson will be performing live in the LA area with Keith Sweat on February 15th at The Nokia Theatre.
