Celebrities are once again uniting behind Barack Obama.  Some celebrities were crucial to the Obama fundraising campaign and get out the vote effort during the Presidential campaign and now some of the same big names are attempting to save the public option in health care reform.

In the following satire various big names (highlighted by Will Ferrell) make a passionate plea to help defend health insurance executives against attacks.  The satire points out the billions of profits made by health insurance companies and the high salaries of executives.

What I find funny about this whole debate, is that those pushing Healthcare reform DON'T REALLY want to solve the problems. Instead, they are using it as another excuse to line their pockets, make a power grab, and give handouts to special interests. In the end, America will end up with a WORSE system than now, with WORSE care. So instead of 60% of America getting outstanding care and 40% getting ok care, we're gonna end up with 100% getting ok to substandard care that we have to WAIT IN LINE FOR.
The irony is that anyone with an ounce of practical sense can come up with a plan that improves the whole thing. I can do it now:

    1. Tort Reform: Cap "pain and suffering" payouts, institute "looser pays" laws.
    2. Enable customers to buy insurance across State lines.
    3. Give a tax credit to people who buy their own insurance.
    4. Make medical insurance MANDATORY.
    5. Remove "pre-existing conditions" clauses.
    6. Credit supplimentary coverage companies for medicare/aid.

    See... easy.

Doc Navy. You are so right. My partner is a Physician. This supposed "Reform" will basically change a system which works for 85%. It will scrap our whole system, gut and insure substandard care AND substandard research in order to include the 15%. The current system CAN include that 15% by tweaking what we have.

The other aspect is that the real reason for "Reform", is to undermine our Constitution and Bill of Rights. It is simply about CONTROL of our lives, finances, choices and ultimately our childrens future.
