Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, a new attraction at SeaWorld Orlando that's slated to open on May 24, is going up rapidly. This week, Creative Director Brian Morrow shared models of the attraction with the media and gave a run-down on what guests can expect this spring.
Click the video toward the bottom left of this article to hear directly from Morrow as he explains various parts of the models. In addition to the ride itself, which gets guests amazingly close to the penguins, it includes other elements like a restaurant, gift shop, and viewing areas that don't require you to go on the ride.
Morrow explained that Puck the penguin is the character who joins you on your journey to Antarctica. In sticking with the SeaWorld Orlando philosophy, the ride will have a strong conservation message.
Great care is being taken to recreate the feel of Antarctica in a state where summer temperatures routinely soar into the 90s. Although the penguins will have a comfortable habitat, riders on Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin don't have to worry about the cold. They'll view the frozen habitat from the warmth of their ride vehicles.
Most of the interior work is already done on the attraction, but construction continues on the exteriors. Continue on to the next part of this article for a video of the outside construction site and more information from Morrow.
