Artie Lange's comedy special 'Artie Lange: Jack and Coke' aired Saturday night on Comedy Central.
The stand-up special, filmed at New York City's Gotham Comedy Club in May 2009, shows a reportedly sober Artie Lange sipping water from a tumbler as he unleashed merciless rants on the likes of Jessica Simpson, Spencer Pratt, Eagles fans, thieving hookers and amateur gamblers.
Comedy Central cashing in on Artie Lange with 'Jack and Coke'
Artie Lange's material for 'Jack and Coke' may have been dark, but the comedian's performance was connected and alive. The idea that just 9 months later Lange would attempt suicide by stabbing himself repeatedly with a foot long kitchen knife seemed--incomprehensible.
In an eerie moment towards the end of the performance, Artie Lange followed up a bit about his mother by stating: "I love my mom. I love my sister Stacie. They saved my life--two good people." Artie Lange was discovered by his mother, unconscious and bleeding
Artie Lange also offered special thanks during 'Jack and Coke' to the two police officers that he had hired to physically stop him from using heroin and "saved his life". Artie Lange later released the officers from duty.
"I want to say one more thing," shouted Artie Lange to close the night. "To all the motherf---ers on the Stern Fan Network: I'm still alive motherf---ers!"
