Video: Artie Lange is 'doing better'

Artie Lange news has been sparse over the past few weeks, but Rosie O'Donnell released a morsel of information on the status of the Howard Stern Show sidekick during her appearance on Thursday's Late Night with Craig Ferguson.

Rosie O'Donnell should sit in for Artie Lange

"He's doing better," Rosie O'Donnell said of Artie Lange. "He's got a lot of trouble with addiction and depression in his life, and his dad when he was young and he tried to take his own life, and it really really was so painful to everyone who loved him including Howard."

Howard Stern on Artie Lange: 'My poor Artie'

Rosie O'Donnell didn't elaborate on what exactly a "better" Artie Lange looked like or give any details on her source of information on Lange's health status. O'Donnell instead switched the focus to what Howard Stern's reaction to Artie Lange's suicide attempt revealed about the self-proclaimed "King of All Media":

Artie Lange suicide attempt leaves Howard Stern speechless

"On the internet I was watching, somebody made a tribute tape," Rosie O'Donnell to Ferguson.  "And you know as Artie was struggling and crying in the years that he worked there, Howard gets up and goes and hugs him. You know--he's a real tender-hearted guy and he wears it all on his face so I think that whole thing of his big bravado and 'Scary Howard' is just an act, you know?"

The tribute tape that Rosie O'Donnell referred to is a video montage of Artie Lange momets from the Howard Stern Show set to Johnny Cash's remake of the 'Nine Inch Nails' song 'Hurt'. Howard Stern has also admitted to being moved by the video.
