On Tuesday, May 20, the Top 2 performed in a one hour performance show which included their newly recorded singles, their choice of a previous song that they performed on the show and Simon Fuller's song choice.

Then on the live results show airing Wednesday, May 21, Jena Irene was eliminated and Caleb Johnson was announced as the Season 13 American Idol winner.

The finale was live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles and featured performances by the American Idol Season XIII judges, the reunited Top Finalists, Lady Antebellum, Aloe Blacc, KISS, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Jason Mraz, Jennifer Nettles, Paramore, Phillip Phillips, Darius Rucker, Jennifer Lopez. Also, for the first time ever, after 13 years of hosting Ryan Seacrest took the stage to perform "Right Here Waiting" with Richard Marx joining him on stage. Seacrest said that the first concert he went to one by Richard Marx.

Johnson joins past winners Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips and Candice Glover.

I spoke with Aloe Blacc on the red carpet right before he performed his hit 'The Man' with the Top 6 male finalists during the show.
