
Mayor Michael Bloomberg has confirmed that at least two people are dead after an airplane collided with a tour helicopter over the Hudson River near Hoboken, New Jersey.
The accident happened just after noon. Both aircrafts crashed into the water. According to reports, one person had been rescued.
The plane, a Piper PA-32, took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey with three people on board. The helicopter was a Eurocopter AS 350 owned by sightseeing and charter company Liberty Tours. It was carrying six people including one pilot and five Italian tourists.
Mayor Bloomberg said this is a recovery mission at this point.
