Farm Aid was organized by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to raise awareness and funds of family farms to help keep farm families on their land. Every year since then, the Farm Aid concert brings together talent from around the country to raise awareness for farm families, according to Orbitcast.
Farm Aid 2009 will be broadcast live today, October 4 at 2 pm EST in St. Louis on Willie Nelson's Willie's Place channel (Sirius channel 64 and XM channel 13).
The Farm Aid lineup includes performances by:
Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds, Wilco, Jason Mraz, Gretchen Wilson, Jamey Johnson, Billy Joe Shaver, Phosphorescent, Will Dailey, Ernie Isley & the Jam Band, Ryan Bingham & the Dead Horses, the Blackwood Quartet and Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, and more.
Sirius XM host Dallas Wayne will also bring listeners backstage for interviews with various artists and guests.
The Farm Aid 2009 concert will be rebroadcast on Friday, October 9 at 7 pm EST and again on Saturday, October 10 at 12 pm EST, and on the Willie's Place channel.
