Video: 12 people confirmed killed at Fort Hood Army base

Twelve are confirmed dead on the Fort Hood Army base (many are Army soldiers), with at least 31 people wounded after at least two shooters opened fire on Thursday afternoon. Early reports indicate that the shooters are Army soldiers on that base.

The shooting started around 1:30 p.m. on the base, and officials say one person is in custody and another has been cornered. One of the confirmed dead is one of the shooters, and was shot by military police. The twelve people were in the solider readiness facility on the military base.

Schools in the area were locked down and Texas A&M Central Texas University's classes have been canceled.

It was announced in a press conference at 3 pm MST that they are not ready to declare that the situation is under control.

President Obama made a brief statement about Fort Hood in a press conference, and asked that everyone keep Fort Hood in their thoughts.

Foot Hood is the Army's largest post in the nation with 40,000 troops, and 25,000 on the base at any point during the day.  The Warrior Combat Stress Reset Program is located on Fort Hood, which is designed to help soldiers overcome combat stress issues, and two soldiers committed suicide on the base this year. Fort Hood's commander has been trying to ease soldier stress by implementing programs and ensuring that are not working too many hours.

There are two army bases in Utah (Tooele Army Depot and Dugway Proving Ground) and one Hill Air Force base, and the Air Force base does have Army soldiers on it. There has never been a shooting on any of those bases.
