Video: 1,000 mph car

In theory you could drive this car down the Southeast Expressway from Boston to Quincy in a little over half a minute—-if there was no traffic and the road was perfectly straight. But Project Bloodhound SSC (supersonic car) seeks to break the land speed record (760 mph, Mach 1 at sea level), and do it decisively by hitting 1,000 mph.

The Bloodhound supersonic car looks to hit 1,000 mph next year in South Africa.
Bloodhound SSC

The Bloodhound, under construction in the UK, will attempt the record in South Africa in August 2011.
