Kljestan scored for the first time this season.
With Jesus Padilla, and Maicon Dos Santos making their debuts for the Goats this past Saturday, it was a player who had been here all season long who stole the show.
Sacha Kljestan got the shut out of TFC started at the the 32nd minute. Following a Carey Talley corner kick which was cleared out of the box, Kljestan found the back of the net after said clearance was prevented from going out of bounds by Jesse Marsch. Marsch in turn centered the ball right to an awaiting Maykel Galindo who headed the ball to the ground. It was there where Kljestan scored. The goal which drove the crowd of 15,165 into a frenzy, marked Kljestan's first goal of the year.
"I thought he had a good game." Coach Preki told goal.com. "He worked hard defensively too. We just hope he keeps going. Obviously, his goal is to go to the World Cup. If he continues like this, the door is open to him."
Six minutes after the halftime break, Kljestan scored again. This time, newcomer Dos Santos found Kljestan in the 51st minute courtesy of a through pass on the left flank.
"I feel good but I'm not satisfied yet," Kljestan said speaking to the LA Times. "I think we've got a long way to go. I hope to get on a good streak, not only myself but with the team as well. Two wins in a row is good for us, so we hope to build on this."
With the victory, the Goats are now third place in the Western Conference with a record of 10-7-3, just two points shy of their neighbors down the hall. Up next, a mid-week match at Rio Tinto Stadium vs. Real Salt Lake at 6:30pm on Fox Sports West.
