Victory frustrated last week, trying too hard to find the perfect shot as they took touch after touch on the edge of the area before they ever looked like taking a shot.

Perth Glory looked to keep that trend continuing as they held firm defensively in the early stages, forcing Victory to shoot from distance, more often than not going astray.

The hosts were frustrating their home side for their second straight home encounter as they really struggled to pressure Danny Vukovic in the Perth Goal.

Jamie Maclaren could well have found the opening goal for Perth Glory on the half hour mark but was denied as Pablo Contreras was able to slide in and stop the run.

As the half was running out Melbourne Victory finally started to actually shoot and in the 36th minute they had their opener as Mitch Nichols passed for Adama Traore to take a touch and hit a strike that sucked under the post leaving Vukovic unable to get to the ball.

Perth were struggling against Victory's possession game and couldn't find a goal in the final nine minutes of the half as it ended 1-0 to the hosts.

Kosta Barbarouses was looking dangerous for Victory in the second half but kept seeing his chances denied by Danny Vukovic, who controlled his area.

Perth struggled throughout to create chances but in the 80th minute they should have had their equalizer as Ryan Edwards was left unmarked but sent his effort well over the bar.

It was a frustrating passage for Perth as they had another chance just one minute later, with Maclaren's volley denied by a Nathan Coe save.

Melbourne Victory sealed all three points in the 89th minute as James Troisi sent the ball for Gui Finkler, who shot low and hard for the 2-0 win.Melbourne Victory got back on track on Friday night as they managed a 2-0 win over Perth Glory at AAMI Park.
