The 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which aired on Tuesday night, revealed this year’s diamond encrusted Royal Fantasy Bra worth more than $10 million, according to a Dec. 11 report in the LA Times. Candice Swanepoel wore the bra made by the jeweler, Hearts on Fire, during the televised event.
The extraordinary bra was imbedded with more than 4,200 jewels, including 2,000 diamonds, in 14 karat gold. The Royal Fantasy Bra series had been created for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since 1996. The cheapest bra that was made was worth $1 million, and the most expensive cost more than $15 million.
The Victoria’s Secret diamond bra took more than 300 man-hours to make, involving many different jewelers and other lingerie specialists. The specialty bra was designed in the balconette-style, inspired by doomed French queen, Marie Antoinette.
Unfortunately, no one purchased the diamond bra, and it was dismantled to be sold in smaller individual pieces.
It was made of 2,000 diamonds … We had to sell those puppies, so it was dismantled," said Danielle Daugsiewicz of Hearts on Fire.
